The Great WarWorld War 1 - The Modern WarWW1 ushered in modern warfare. Many of the technologies brought to bear in WW1 may have been used in other skirmishes, but never to the extent as in this modern war. These new methods of killing resulted in unprecedented death and destruction.
World War 1 - The Long and Bloody WarThe war lasted over 4 years and on the Western front alone, averaged over 2500 deaths per day. Almost un fathomable. A total of over 9 million men were killed. The United States saw the very least of this, not entering the war until 1917 and not getting engaged on any large scale until 1918. |
