Rudder RepairSeptember 11, 2010We hit something while sailing last weekend and it knocked the rudder off the boat. Today I cleaned the rudder up using a Scotchbrite pad and water and then straightened the lower pintle pin. A four pound hand sledge made easy work of it.
I should have taken a before photo. Here you can see the pins are straight and lined up just like they should be. I also tried to take a shot of the rudder and how well it cleaned up, but the photo didn't really show much. I was really impressed with how well the rudder cleaned up. The Interlux VC-17m paint worked great! |
