Boating August 5, 2017 With Laura's Gang
We finally got Laura's family out on the boat. We tried this on
July 21,
and had engine trouble. Today everything went fine. We got the boat in and out of the water with no trouble. In fact when we rolled up to the boat ramp area, there was a ranger sitting there watching the ramp. I was a little concerned because we were going to over the limit on the boat (the limit is 7 people and we'd have 8, but two of them would be small children). I told Connie to go over and as the ranger if she would do and inspection and give us a sticker. So Connie walked over and was soon back. She said the ranger said she had the forms, but she didn't have the stickers and the safety officer wasn't around today. As soon as Connie walked away, the ranger left. I think she was embarrassed that she couldn't do her job. No more worries about the ranger!
The boat ran fine.
Matthew, Carter and Aaron all rode the tube. When we had
Aaron and Matthew both on the tube, it was a load!

| Right
here is a chief reason I wanted a boat, so that the
boys could experience it. Not just these two, but all of the grandkids.

The boat did diesel sometimes when I shut it off. I
learned that if I let it idle a little bit to let the
temperature come down before I turned it off, it would
prevent the dieseling. Also, when I started it back up, I
could see the temperature above 150 (it normally runs about
145) and so if I idled for a minute or so, the temp would
come right back down to normal.
