July 14th French Indep. Day went in big dugout at 12 p.m. guns started
Chas Landon was killed John Fisher wounded Lt. Freeman give orders 3rd
platoon takes no prisoners.
July 19th 2 a.m. we were relieved Fritz was still sending them over.
July 19th Arrived Conperly 8 a.m. Got lost. 9 a.m. Ger. plane brought
down.
July 22nd Left Conperly at 1p.m. hiked to St. Hiloir entrained at 6 p.m. St.
H.
July 23rd Unloaded in Lefert at 5 p.m. hiked to Nan-
teuil arrived at 7:30 p.m.

July 25 Left in trucks for Bellow
            Wdo. Cht Thiery front.   
       26 Moved up a few kilos
            and dug in B Co was
            shot up. 1 shell killed 22
            men wounded 30 more.
       27 Took up the advance about
            10 killo. We were given
            orders to get our fighting
            packs. We passed several
           dead Huns sure had
           one funny feeling very few
           dead American on
           battlefield we took
           up the assaulting wave
           our Ptl in 1st wave dug
           in at night under
           shell fire losing a few.
      28 Went over at 4:00 a.m.

on the front line we
gained 18 kilo. Took
over several machine
guns & ammunition
Frank Taylor and
Bob Ford charged
about 10 Huns with
two machine guns killing
2 and wounding 2 they
were mentioned for a D.
S.M.
We had corned willie
andhard bread for 5 days
before we got rations.
